π Deities
The deities are powerful entities who watch over the world of Fluxterra. Every character chooses one of them as their guardian, who will aid them in life.
Divine Blessingsβ
To receive aid from a deity, a character needs to spend Divine Blessings.
Every time a player triggers a Slip or Crit, they receive 1 Blessing.
A character can store up to 12 Blessings.
Abilitiesβ
Divine Powerβ
Characters can call upon the powers of their deity in difficult situations.
Aidβ
Whenever a character is facing an attribute check roll (D20), they can choose to request aid from their deity.
This must be decided before rolling, they have to spend 1 Blessing, and they need to convincingly explain how their deity's domain will help them.
With the deity at your side, the attribute check is fully protected from Slips.
Next they roll as normal. If the check was not passed, they have the option to extort themselves.
Extortionβ
Until the target is reached, the character can request more power and extort themselves at the cost of health.
By spending 2 HP (Core Health Points), the character can add another D20 roll to their attribute check.
This additional value is simply added to the total sum.
If the dice shows a 20, the entire check becomes a critical success.
When the target value is reached, the attribute check succeeds.
If the character runs out of HP to spend, they may choose to do a final push.
This drops their HP to 0. The attribute check will automatically succeed, regardless of current value.
However as soon as the action is completed, they go unconsciousness as normal, including immediately gaining a wound.
Divine Giftsβ
Gifts are extremely powerful effects provided by the deity in dire situations of great need.
To request a gift, the character needs to spend 9 blessings and pray to their god/goddess for help. Other characters may also chime in with their points to help reach the total. The GM then needs to explain what happens.
Each god and goddess has their own way of helping which can come in handy in different situations. The exact effects are decided during play. They can range from incredible attacks, and near impossible moves, to perfect insights, and impeccable perception.
However, divines will never push the party directly towards their goal, only help them in achieving progress. Characters who want to take the easy way out, are not worthy of their help.
