π Battle Field
The battle field is a hexagonal map where a battle takes place. It shows the terrain and objects the characters will have to deal with during combat.
Terrainβ
The terrain represents the ground the characters are standing on. Certain types of terrain will affect the characters in various way.
Example Effectsβ
| Name | Effect |
|---|---|
| Normal | All characters can stand on it and move normally. |
| Hole | Nothing can stand there, but flying characters may cross it. |
| Blocking | Nothing can pass and line of sight is broken. |
| Sticky | N Moving away from a sticky tile will require N m additional speed. |
| Poison | N Moving away from a poison tile will deal N dDMG. |
| Ending | your turn on a poison tile will deal 3x N dDMG. |
| Foggy | N Causes a penalty of N for Hit Rolls where attacks line of sight crosses it. |
Objectsβ
The battle field usually contains a few objects. These can be things like pillars, trees, rocks, which provide some cover. But also special objects like Flux Crystals, machinery, or other things with special effects.
Coverβ
A cover protects characters from ranged attacks and can be a variety of objects (benches, rocks, pillars, β¦).
Sizeβ
Covers taller then the characters will use line-of-sight.
With shorter ones, the character needs to be directly behind it.
Effectivenessβ
The sheer size and stability of the cover determines the effectiveness. Small covers may grant Evade 10, better ones grant more, some even full Evade.
Conditionβ
Some covers can also break. Every hit will decrease the condition. Once it has been hit enough, depending on the stability somewhere between 2 and 10 hits, it will break and no longer provide cover. Beware that some covers might even explode or worse.
Attack Shapesβ
- Short Cover
- Blocks Melee (No contact possible)
- Passthrough for Ranged and AoE, but provides Evade
- Covered character may use ranged attack without loosing Evade
- Tall Cover
- Blocks all
- Covered character cannot attack over it.
Hazardsβ
These are special effects usually applied across the entire battlefield or special forces moving independently across the map. That includes heavy rain, fog, earthquakes, tornados, space-time rifts and such.
